Long before all of the hype surrounding the current movie version of this play, I was a fan of the live theatrical version, and still am. (Though I am very excited to see the movie, I just haven't had the time yet.) The 2000 Halloween season was when I threw together my Phantom costume. I had only decided to go wander around as the Phantom kind of last-minute when I found this incredibly gruesome mask in our Halloween stash. The costume just kind of went from there, lol. We had a pair of black velvet pants and a matching jacket in one of our closets and I had a black fedora I thought would work. It still needed a few extra things, so I rummaged through the basement (before it became my room) and came up with this amazing antique candelabra and found the cheap black cape with some more costume supplies.  I was set.
It was great fun to walk through town, silently and mysteriously, with my friends and sister scaring little kids - and adults as well! It was also highly amusing to not be recognized by anyone I knew. ;-)

costume on the right are still of me (at 16), I swear! Totally different, no? ;-) That was a fun costume...
